Cell sites seem to be everywhere these days, but many people don’t know what’s on them or what the different pieces do. Without the Cat explains what sort of equipment is located at a typical cell tower site.

Antenna


The device that transmits and receives radio waves from the site.


The higher the frequency of spectrum supported by the antenna, the shorter the antenna. So the blue antennas may represent 850 MHz antennas, while the shorter green antennas may represent 1.9 GHz (otherwise known as 1900 MHz) PCS antennas.
